Meet Our Friendly Staff at Marketown Health
Our doctors have a wide range of general practice skills, including emergency, antenatal, pallative care, and minor surgical procedures. They work with a dedicated team of nursing and administrative staff to deliver the highest possible levels of patient care.
Marketown Health is also fortunate to have registrars completing their postgraduate specialist qualifications while working with us. These GP doctors are fully qualified and work closely with our senior doctors.

MBBS(Hons), MMedSc(EPI), FRACGP
Peter began at the practice in 1991.
His special interests are Travel Medicine, Acupuncture, Medical Education and Medical Politics
Peter lectures on Travel Medicine, works at GP Access, visits Aged Care facilities and is Chair of the Board of Hunter Primary Care, the not-for-profit organisation which is responsible for GP Access, local HeadSpace and other psychology services.
Peter is a supervisor of GP registrars, medical students and international medical graduates, and a clinical teacher in post-graduate general practice for training provider GP Synergy.
His hobbies include tennis, basketball, golf and travel.
BSc (Hons), MBBS (Hons)
Georgina joined the team in November 2014 after being on maternity leave. She has completed training in family planning and sexual health, and also has an interest in diabetes, other metabolic diseases and preventative health. In 2015 she completed the FRACGP exams. Prior to her medical career she completed an advanced science degree at the University of NSW, and subsequently spent several years at the Garvan Institute in Sydney involved in breast and prostate cancer research. She then returned to university to study medicine at Sydney University.
Outside of work she is busy looking after her 4 young children and loves to run, hike and practice yoga.
BSc MD, CCFP (EM) FRACGP
Rob completed his Canadian training in both Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine in 2001. While working in Canada, Rob was a clinical instructor with the University of BC Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He was also a physician examiner for the Medical Council of Canada.
Rob & his family moved back to Newcastle in 2012 and he joined the practice in 2014. Rob enjoys teaching medical students at the practice, and enjoys all aspects of family medicine with an interest in skin lesions, travel medicine and men’s health. Rob also performs cardiac stress tests with a local cardiologist and works for GP Access providing after hours care. When not at work, Rob will be in the surf or entertaining his kids.
BMed, FRACGP (Medal)
After initially studying medical science at Sydney University he moved to Newcastle to complete his medical degree in 2008. Over the last 10 years he has spent time working in many of the hospitals around the hunter before finishing his GP specialty training in 2013.
He has extensive sports medicine experience working with national and international cricket teams such as Sri Lanka and the West Indies and continues to participate in hospital outpatient clinics such as GPACCESS.
Rob enjoys all areas of General practice, but has a particular interest in Cardiology, Diabetes, Paediatrics, Travel and Skin Medicine .
Rob is married and has 2 young children and enjoys running and spending time outdoors.

Emma joined the team in 2016 after being on maternity leave. She is interested in all aspects of General Practice, in particular mental health, Aboriginal Health, antenatal care, paediatrics and geriatrics.
Emma was a volunteer counsellor and trainer with the Australian Breastfeeding Association for many years, and has also been involved in General Practice Registrar training. Emma is a member of the Hunter Postgraduate Medical Institute.
Emma grew up in Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and going to the beach.
BMed, FRACGP, Diploma of Child Health
Dr Zena grew up in Newcastle. She graduated from medicine at the University of Newcastle. After completing her internship in Newcastle, she moved to Perth to complete resident training in women’s health and paediatrics. Dr Zena worked in paediatrics at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth for nearly 5 years. This sparked her interest in general practice. She then undertook her GP training on the Central Coast, completing in 2017. Dr Zena is interested in all aspects of general practice with a special interest in paediatrics, women’s health and preventative medicine. She has also completed family planning and sexual health courses.
Dr Zena is returning to Newcastle to be closer to her very large extended family. But she still enjoys travelling around Australia and the world and does this when she can.
BMedSci, MBBS (Hons)
Danika grew up in Sydney, where she graduated from a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Medical Science before completing medicine at the University of Notre Dame. She moved to Newcastle in 2015 and has been enjoying working in the Hunter New England network. Danika has an interest in all areas of medicine, and is currently completing the Diploma of Child Health. She loves spending her spare time with her husband and busy 1 year old son.
After studying sociology and international development, Amoreaux worked for the Australian Government for a number of years in Canberra before moving to Newcastle to pursue her medical training in 2011. She graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2016. Amoreaux enjoys working in all aspects of medicine and this is what attracted her to becoming a General Practitioner.
In her free time she enjoys travelling with her husband, running and spending time with her dog.
